What we said:
Wannabe entrepreneurs take note: the secret to success is spotting a gap in the market and filling said gap with your product. True, that’s easier said than done but, as Archimedes himself would attest, brilliant ideas can arrive at the moments you least expect them. Take Zach Condon: his “Eureka!” moment came whilst browsing his local record store in Santa Fe, when he noticed something missing between the ‘Balinese Gamelan’ and ‘Barbershop’ sections. Turns out that something was ‘Balkan-influenced Indie-Folk’, et voila! Beirut was born. Three albums down the line, his risky musical venture’s more thrilling (and profitable) than ever.
