Lordy, hasn’t Elliot Gleave come a long way? A little under four years ago he was struggling to sell, or indeed convince with, his hip-hop debut. Turns out the decision to drop that “Straight Outta Fulham” act has paid dividends, with the nation now going loopy for his “uplifting rave” and 90% of the dubstep producers du jour, clambering to get a piece of the action. Consequently, third album Playing in the Shadows benefits from the Midas touches of Nero, Skream and Chase & Status, to name but three and, judging by his chart-topping lead single, Example’s “drugs and commitment” album looks set to be his most successful yet.
