Since becoming infatuated with the malevolent shimmer of lead singles ‘She Wants’ and ‘The Look’, we’ve been more than a little excited about the arrival of The English Riviera. Or, to put it another way, we’ve been sat at our desks since midnight on release day, sporting Metronomy t-shirts/homemade, illuminated chest-buzzers and playing the album full blast, physically incapable of wiping delirious smiles from our chops. Suffice to say the follow-up to the stupendous Nights Out doesn’t disappoint. Showcasing an expanded range, reflective cuts like ‘Some Written’ nestle between the trademark skittish electro of ‘Corinne’ and ‘Love Underlined’ to offer up a veritable feast of utterly glorious, electronic pop.
