“Poliça are the best band I’ve ever heard.” Not our words, ladies and gentlemen, but the words of Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, at this year’s Grammys, no less. Perhaps not unsurprisingly, this Minneapolis-based quartet have noticed a sharp spike in interest for their ethereal, electronic soundscapes ever since, making Give You The Ghost one of the most anticipated – and acclaimed – albums of 2012 so far. We heartily concur with those eye-watering write-ups. Staggeringly intricate double-drumming, propulsive bass lines, hypnotic synth washes and Channy Leanagh’s gorgeous, auto-tune-laden vocals all come together to lend a phantasmagoric feel to proceedings. Seriously, what’s not to like?
