What we said:
When The Horrors first emerged in a haze of hairspray back in 2007, it’s fair to say their morbid pseudonyms and reverb-drenched fusion of 60s garage and goth rock was a little frightening for most. The spidery Tim Burton caricatures righted that with the comparative charm-offensive of Primary Colours, converting most skeptics with some glorious shoegaze. Now the rotters have returned, intent on claiming the remaining stragglers. And, with the atmospheric, synth-heavy, 80s-influenced psychedelic rock of Skying in their arsenal, we think it’s a done deal. Undoubtedly one of our favourite albums of 2011 so far.
