Taking a lengthy hiatus in a notoriously fickle industry is a risky tactic. For The Rapture, however, there was little choice: touring 2003’s Pieces of the People We Love had left relations between the quartet strained, prompting bassist Matty Safer’s and singer Luke Jenner’s departures. With Jenner having now re-joined both the group and James Murphy’s DFA imprint, he’s leading his gang of, er, three, back into the fray with In The Grace Of Your Love, a third long-player that sees them touch on the loved-up dance-punk that made their name whilst also incorporating elements of soul, eighties house, psych-rock and disco. It’s a gratifyingly eclectic mix.
