7digital What we said: Music reinvents itself constantly, genres merge and are reintroduced, artists come and go. But some things never change, which is comforting at times. Alanis Morissette is one of those comfortingly stable artists who remain unimpressed by fleeting trends. On her eighth album, 'Havoc And Bright Lights', we’ll hear that same fresh voice that we all remember from the multi-awarded 'Jagged Little Pill' from 1995. Morissette feels great these days; she got married and welcomed a son into the world in 2010. This elation shines through on her new lp. Musically it is light-hearted compared to the dark, electronic 'Flavors of Entanglement' from 2008. She is as grounded as ever, lyrically she still wears her heart on her sleeve and she remains a vocal force to be reckoned with. A few feministic lines might put some listeners off-balance, but apart from that nobody has anything to fear from Alanis.
