Once upon a time, a beautiful Canadian opera singer (and classically-trained multi-instrumentalist) named Rachel Zeffira met The Horrors’ frontman Faris Badwan. United by a love of Michael Haneke films, they swapped mix-tapes to share musical influences. So it was that, out of this strange melting pot of obscure 60s girl groups and the works of Saint-Saëns, Cat’s Eyes was conceived. Having already debuted their live act in St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican, the duo are now unveiling the Nick Cave-meets-The Shangri-Las stylings of this rather marvelous, eponymous debut. And no, we’re not spinning you a yarn – sometimes the truth really is more fantastical than fairy tales.
