7digital What we said: After a whole decade mucking about with monikers, this Macclesfield-formed quartet finally settled on “The 1975” in the January of 2012. Thankfully, what they lack in decisiveness, they’ve more than made up for in diligence: in a little over 18 months they’ve unleashed four EPs, scored a UK Top 20 single, supported The Rolling Stones and Muse, and laid down these 16 songs with Foals/Arctic Monkeys-producer Mike Crossley. Rounded up, it makes for an impressively-slick debut set, offering up a slew of synth-infused, guitar-pop that falls somewhere between The Big Pink and The Killers.
