Green Man 2015

Festival guide

Probably Britain’s most picturesque festival, Green Man takes place in the majestic surrounds of Wales’ Brecon Beacons for four days every August. This year’s event boasts another unsurprisingly awesome line-up, headlined by St. Vincent, Hot Chip and newly-reformed homecoming heroes Super Furry Animals. Check out our recommended picks below, and head to the official Green Man website for further information.

    Super Furry Animals

From the rave tank and the yeti suits, to that incredible back catalogue, stuffed-full of techno-infused, psych-pop gems, few bands have brought as much joy over the past two decades as the Furries have. After five years focusing on side projects and solo records, SFA reformed in May to reissue their Welsh-language masterpiece Mwng on its 15th anniversary, and to play a series of greatest hits gigs. Don’t miss their headline set on the Saturday at Green Man – it doubles as a long over-due homecoming.

    Natalie Prass

Blessed with a voice so sweet you can practically see the bluebirds circling her head as she sings, Natalie Prass is definitely one of our favourite musical discoveries of the year. The 29-year-old’s dreamy, self-titled debut was recorded at Matthew E. White’s Spacebomb studios and sees her pillow-soft vocals set amongst lushly-arranged country-soul songs, as though Dusty In Memphis had been reimagined by Disney. She’ll be charming the masses over at the Mountain Stage on Friday.

    Father John Misty

Had you told us this time last year that the Fleet Foxes’ former drummer would deliver one of the best albums of 2015, we’d likely have laughed loudly in your face. And yet – lo and behold – here’s I Love You, Honeybear sitting pretty in the top 10 of our Best Of 2015 so far. If you had the pleasure of witnessing his recent Glastonbury performance, you’ll already know how compelling a presence Joshua Tillman is live. If not, head to his set on the Mountain Stage on Saturday and expect bone-dry wit and elaborate selfies.
