Even if not, After The End certainly feels ambitious, finding the Floridians taking on two more members, hiring Depeche Mode’s mixing engineer, and recasting themselves as “a pop band” pedalling “a twisted reality.” Gone is the ferocity of roughshod recordings like Roser Park, and in its place is hook-heavy alt-rock, that ranges from the gambolling, guitar-led ‘Little Killer’ to the stately, piano-driven title track. They’ve got the tunes, they’ve got the louche croon, now all they need is a spot on Letterman...
