Check out our pick of the bill below.
Top picks
Frightened Rabbit
Arguably, the only thing better than the prospect of a Friday night Frightened Rabbit show, is the prospect of a Friday night Frightened Rabbit show on home turf. Currently touring their Aaron Dessner-produced fifth album, Painting Of A Panic Attack, the Selkirk-formed five-piece will be bringing their emotive, folk-inspired indie-rock to King Tut’s Wah Wah Tent, immediately after Rodrigo y Gabriela. Drag your friends to the front and get ready to sing yourself hoarse to the likes of ‘Keep Yourself Warm’, ‘The Modern Leper’ and ‘The Loneliness and the Scream’.
Dua Lipa
If you’re hankering after a pure, unadulterated melodic high this T In The Park, why not catch one of the UK’s future superstars? Dua Lipa shares management with Lana Del Rey, was longlisted for the BBC’s Sound of 2016 poll, and is responsible for three of the best pop singles of the past 12 months, namely ‘Hotter Than Hell’, ‘Be The One’ and ‘Last Dance’. Still only 20-years-old, Lipa’s lovelorn tales are leant some serious emotional clout by the sensuous huskiness of her voice. Catch her opening King Tut’s Wah Wah Tent on Sunday.
Craig David
Weary and a little bit worse for wear, we decided to go see Craig David’s TS5 set at this year’s Great Escape. Turned out quite a lot of other people wanted to see him too, so we queued in the rain, all the while wondering, “Is he really worth the wait?” Readers, the answer is an emphatic yes. Imagine the world’s greatest wedding disco (featuring bangers by TLC, Justin Bieber, Whitney Houston) but with Craig David singing his own name over the top, plus live performances of crowd-pleasers like ‘Fill Me In’ and ‘Rewind’. Seriously: do not miss his show on Sunday.
