7digital What we said: Mantra-like chants, swampy hip hop rhythms, psychedelic synth sounds, looping song structures: these are the things we’ve come to expect from Noah Lennox, whether in collaboration with Animal Collective or alone as Panda Bear. While these elements are in joyful abundance on PBMTGR (see ‘Boys Latin’ and ‘Mr Noah’), this time they’re balanced by interludes of unexpected soberness, such as the piano-led ‘Lonely Wanderer’ and ‘Tropic Of Cancer’, a harp-driven tribute to Lennox’s late father. The result is the probably most rounded and absorbing Panda Bear long-player to date.
